Одна из задач проекта — полностью изменить пространство галереи, заполнив его новыми объёмами. Сначала зрители видят пустую площадь с имитацией плитки, на ней — небольшой фонтан, который начинает работать при приближении. Под площадью находится подвал, попасть в который можно через небольшую железную дверь с надписью «Режим ожидания». Это пространство напоминает катакомбы, укрытие, шахты, подземелье или пещеру — определённого варианта нет. Здесь достаточно комфортно: есть зона для игр, работы и искусства. Пространство наполнено артефактами разных времён — настоящего, 90-х и советского, — отсылающих к культурным, политическим и социальным событиям. Можно сказать, что здесь живут партизаны. Коммуникация между этажами происходит через фонтан, который в подвале превращается в лампу, а зрители внизу слышат шаги тех, кто находится на «площади».
В этом проекте мы хотели столкнуть две ситуации, которые находятся в режиме ожидания. У пустой декоративной площади и «подземелья партизанов» есть общий потенциал: первое пространство должно наполниться энергией, а второе — высвободить её.
One of the installation tasks is to change the space of the gallery, filling it with new volumes that is created by “platform-square” at the top and a “cellar-cave” below. The square is the first thing viewer sees when comes to the exhibition. It is empty, decorated with tiles. After stepping on the area, he can observe a small fountain, which begins to work when visitor coming closer.
If you want to get to the bottom part of the installation you should go downstairs and find small iron door with a table “Standby mode”. There visitor comes into the space resembling catacombs or asylum or mines or cave. There is no definite answer to what is that, but the space is pretty cosy, there is a zone for games, work and art. You can say that partisans live here. Place is filled with a variety of artifacts, like of the Soviet past, and nineties, or of the present. The objects refer to the cultural, political and social events. The ceiling in the «basement» is not very high — only 2 meters and therefore the viewer feels someone walking on surface of the square. Two floors communicates with each other through the fountain, that in the bottom floor becomes a lamp.
In this project, we wanted to confront two situations, which are both in standby mode — the empty square and the “guerrillas underground”. They are are ready to change, the first space wants to be filled with energy, and the second — to be released of it.
